Where are my photos processed?

Entirely in your browser. This cleaner does not upload photos or their metadata, and it has no ads, analytics, or third-party scripts. File data stays in this tab until you clear it or close it. Downloads are saved wherever your browser normally saves files.

What gets removed?

EXIF (including embedded GPS and camera details), XMP, IPTC, comments, embedded thumbnails, color profiles, and other application metadata. Any data after the JPEG end marker is also discarded. Essential JPEG image and color-decoding information stays intact. We scan the output again before making it available to download.

Will my photo look the same?

Normally, the compressed image data is copied without re-encoding. With “Keep photos the right way up” enabled, photos with EXIF rotation or mirroring are re-saved at high JPEG quality to preserve their orientation. This can slightly change quality and file size. Removing a color profile can affect colors. Always check the cleaned preview.

With that option off, rotation metadata is removed without rotating the pixels, so some photos may appear sideways or mirrored.

Does this make a photo anonymous?

It removes embedded metadata, not identifying details visible in the picture, such as faces, addresses, or license plates. Downloaded filenames keep the original name with “-clean” added; rename files if their names contain personal information.

Can I use HEIC, PNG, or RAW files?

This tool supports JPEG (.jpg and .jpeg) files only. Export other formats as JPEG first. Each file can be up to 25 MB, with up to 50 photos and 200 MB total per batch. Very large images may exceed your browser’s memory limits.
